Can my insurance price increase?

In short, no! The price you pay when you take out your policy is fixed for the policy year unless you make any changes to the policy

Will I be covered outside the UK?

Yes. If you’re planning a holiday road trip to Europe, we’ve got you covered! You should contact the NuBee Team on 0345 470 2550 if you are taking your car out of the country so that we can make a note.

Can I get a quote if I haven’t bought the car yet?

Yes, in fact we would prefer you to do this in case we are unable to offer cover on your new car

Why do I need to state how many miles I expect to travel in a year?

Your policy price depends on how many miles you expect to travel. Fewer miles could mean a lower price.

Can I insure a modified car?

Yes, but you should call the NuBee Team on 0345 470 2550 to check that the modification on your car is covered by your insurer.

Why doesn’t NuBee offer cover for certain modifications?

No doubt about it, negotiating your first year of driving is tough, and sometimes it’s easy to fall into the trap of buying a modified car.

Ask most people what they consider to be a modification and the answer you’ll receive is ‘huge spoilers and blacked out windows’. Both correct, but a modification is any change to a vehicle that wasn’t part of the original specification, like non-standard alloys, stereos and even stickers.

Purchasing a modified car can cause problems further down the line, such as invalidated insurance – and no one wants that.

Other problems owners of modified cars can face are:

  • DIY modification projects can make the vehicle unsafe to drive
  • Performance-enhancing aspects of a car can cause more damage in a crash, putting you at higher risk of injury
  • Heavily modified cars are prime targets for thieves (and vandals, sadly)

First, look for the obvious:

  • Are the wheels a different make to the car itself?
  • Do the alloys look painted or overly large?
  • Can you see through all the windows to look inside the car?
  • Have there been any changes to the shape of the bodywork?
  • Is there additional bodywork for example fins or skirts?

Granted not all modifications are as easy to spot, but if something doesn’t seem quite right to you feel free to ask the owner or garage you’re planning to purchase the car from. If you aren’t able to do that you can always head to Google! Search the specification of vehicle you’re looking to buy and see – do the images reflect the car you’re looking at buying?

How do you calculate my insurance premium?

At NuBee we love safe drivers, and we don’t think you should have to pay for other road users bad habits.

That’s why by sharing your driving data with the NuBee Team via the Theo Device you’ll receive an upfront discount on your car insurance.

We then look at factors such as; who you are, the car you drive and how you’re going to use it. We run it through some clever calculations and the result is your premium.

And you can rest assured that we won’t increase that price, so long as your details remain the same.

I don't know many miles I will travel, can you help?

We know it can be hard to predict your mileage, especially if it’s your first car insurance policy.

What if I don’t buy enough miles at the start of my policy?

If it looks like you’re going to exceed your mileage allowance, you can top-up at any point.

The price you pay for your miles will depend on the number of miles you are requiring. 

What if I exceed my annual mileage?

Don’t worry, before you reach your agreed annual mileage, the NuBee Team will make contact and you can then either;

 1.      Go onto NuBee Self-Service portal www.nubee.collingwood.co.uk or

2.      Call the NuBee Team on 0345 470 2550

Does having more than one driver affect my policy?

Yes, it may affect the price of your policy. Call the NuBee Team to discuss this on 0345 470 2550

Can I change my payment date?

Yes, you can change the date we collect your Direct Debit within certain criteria. You can either call the NuBee Team direct on 0345 470 2550 or call Close Brothers Premium Finance on 0333 321 8566.

Can I add someone onto my policy who can speak on my behalf?

Yes, you can add a Third Party Authority (TPA) to your policy by calling the NuBee Team on 0345 470 2550.  The TPA will be able to discuss, purchase, renew, cancel and amend the policy on your behalf.
